Along the banks of the world’s longest river, The Nile, deep in the fertile valleys of Egypt lays the world of the ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptian civilization lasted over 3,000 years!

The Egyptians were polytheistic,
which means that they worshiped multiple Gods and Goddesses. Their lives
were immersed in their religion and it was the most important part of
their existence.
The Egyptians believed that all of Egypt belonged to the Gods, and that
Pharaohs were the representatives on earth of the Gods. You have probably
heard of the most famous Pharaoh, King Tut! He was just one of many, many
pharaohs or kings who reigned in Egypt. The Pharaoh owned all of the land,
made all the laws, collected taxes, and defended the Egyptians against
foreign attack. Since he was the representative of the Gods on earth,
he also preformed spiritual rituals and built temples to honor the Gods.

The ancient Egyptians, unlike other cultures of their time, were quite
stylish and wore tunics fashioned for each individual. A tunic is like
a long T-Shirt reaching to the knees on men and the ankles on women, made
of linen, and usually white. They also wore makeup! Both men and women
wore blue and green eye shadow and black eyeliner. Both men and women
enjoyed jewelry as well, and wore gold if they could afford to.
